CFG Bank Celebrates 2024 New Community Initiatives and Partnerships & Partner Milestones
CFG Bank (CFG), the largest bank headquartered in Baltimore, which provides flexible financing and online banking solutions to the national healthcare and multifamily markets and the Mid-Atlantic region, today proudly shares a recap of its 2024 community involvement efforts, including new partnerships and initiatives and community partner milestones.
“Giving back and paying it forward is engrained in everything we do, and in 2024 we expanded our community involvement initiatives and celebrated milestones with many of our partners,” said Erik Howard, CFG Bank President. “We create solutions and engage in partnerships to support and transform our communities for the better – and hope to inspire others to do the same. We look forward to all that is to come in our community this year.”
Highlights of new CFG Bank community partnerships and initiatives include:
- Hippodrome Theater Partnership. CFG partnered with the historic Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, which brings the best of Broadway and world-class entertainment to downtown Baltimore.
- Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Accounts. CFG developed two first-of-their-kind money market accounts, where commercial and retail customers had the opportunity to donate a portion of their accrued interest to Baltimore Community Foundation’s Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund, with CFG matching up to $500,000. Proceeds of the Fund support recovery and resilience of Baltimore as a result of the Key Bridge tragedy.
- Sweet Talks Programming. To help share information about community partners with the entire CFG team, the company launched its Sweet Talks program. Community partners are invited to visit CFG’s headquarters to present about initiatives, ways the public can get involved, and volunteer opportunities.
- Season of Giving Program. Throughout November and December, CFG coordinated several team-wide programs, such as a coat drive, toy drive, meal delivery to frontline workers, to support local partners, including Dwyer Workforce Development, Franciscan Center, Helping Up Mission, Thread, The Ulman Foundation, and Vehicles for Change.
Highlights of notable milestones CFG Bank celebrated with its partners include:
- One Year Anniversary of CFG Bank Arena. Following the opening of CFG Bank Arena in 2023, the world-class entertainment and sports venue celebrated its first anniversary in April 2024. Within its first year, more than 828,870 people visited CFG Bank Arena to see one of the 124 events, 38 of which were sold out. Billboard ranked the venue #4 Highest Grossing Venue worldwide within the category of 10,001-15,000 capacity arenas. CFG is the naming rights partner for CFG Bank Arena.
- Opening of Harbor Wetland Exhibit at the National Aquarium. In August, the National Aquarium unveiled its free, outdoor Harbor Wetland exhibit. A 10,000-square-foot floating wetland that mimics the Inner Harbor’s original Chesapeake Bay tidal salt marsh habitat, the exhibit promotes healthy water, supports native species, and teaches guests about wetland ecosystems. CFG donated $3 million to support this project and is the presenting partner of the exhibit.
- Opening of Dwyer Workforce Development’s New Headquarters. In October, Dwyer Workforce Development moved into its new headquarters to foster the company’s growth, mission advancement, and national expansion efforts. In 2021, CFG provided seed money to help launch the first-of-its-kind nonprofit and continues to support the organization. CFG donated furniture and supplies to the new headquarters space. In 2024, DWD helped train and place over 3,500 Dwyer Scholars into healthcare careers across Maryland, Texas, and Florida.
CFG partners with organizations throughout the Maryland area and beyond that are focused on transforming and supporting our communities. Some additional partners include Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland, SPCA, Maryland Zoo, Saint Frances Academy, Mother Mary Lange Catholic School, Living Classrooms, and Boys & Girls Clubs.
